About AAYA's Memory Makers
Memory Makers is an initiative by the Asian American Youth Alliance (AAYA) that focuses on enhancing the well-being of dementia patients at Fox Trail Memory Care Living Centers. Through a variety of wellness activities—such as art projects, Lego-building, and interactive games—we provide residents with opportunities for stimulation which eases their stress. Our goal is to foster an environment that promotes emotional and cognitive wellness, improving the quality of life for those affected by dementia. In addition to providing direct care, Memory Makers is committed to fighting Alzheimer's on a broader scale. We organize fundraisers to support Alzheimer's of New Jersey, contributing to the ongoing battle against the disease. For our volunteers, this program is not only about making a difference in the lives of dementia patients but also about personal growth. By participating in the program, volunteers gain valuable experience in caregiving, communication, and leadership, all while learning the importance of empathy and compassion. Through their involvement, they leave a lasting impact on the community and grow from the meaningful connections they build.
